RAY CONNOR on LANDLINE on THE ABC

Chicken Run

by Pip Courtney

Posted April 29, 2012

In the world of poultry exhibiting one name's stood out for over 70 years, Ray Connor. He's taught generations about the art of breeding and showing chickens and last year we followed him as he prepared for another title tilt at Maclean in Northern NSW.

This was the last time I collaborated with my husband, ABC cameraman John Bean on a Landline story. It's been a hard one to write, so in the end I decided to do something a bit unorthodox and let the man behind the lens help me tell this story.

Below is the last picture together of Pip and her cameraman husband John Bean. John was tragically killed in a helicopter accident at Lake Eyre in August, 2011.

The Australorp Club of Australia Inc passes on their deepest sympathy to Pip and her family on the tragic loss of a real mate and gentleman.
